Kshinté Brathwaite

Kshinté Brathwaite has joined AmeriCorps after many years of work at the community and state levels, in both New York and Wisconsin. Her early work with The Fresh Air Fund anchored her career in youth and community development, as she worked collaboratively with the Department of Education, the New York City Housing Authority, The Department of Children and Family Services, and a dedicated network of community-based organizations, in order to provide children and their families opportunities for recreational and educational growth and development.

She has previously served as a statewide Curriculum and Training Specialist with the University of Wisconsin - Extension, Cooperative Extension, providing training and grant advising for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-ed), and later served as Program Director for Professional Development in the Office of Equity and Inclusion within the University of Wisconsin System.

Her work in Wisconsin continued in her role as Program Director at the Goodman Community Center, affording her the opportunity to oversee Office of Adolescent Health and 21st Century Community Learning Center federal grant awards, among other public, private, and foundation grants. In this position, Brathwaite enjoyed providing oversight and guidance to staff and AmeriCorps members in their implementation of innovative and impactful community projects across the city.

Throughout her career, Brathwaite has always been involved in service and appreciates her most recent experience as a Peace Corps volunteer, assisting community-based organizations in Mozambique as they continued to build capacity to administer grant awards to support public health initiatives in local communities.

Brathwaite earned a Masters in Social Work from New York University, and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Liverpool Management School in the northwest of England.
