Guillermo Torres
Director of Programming, Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice
Guillermo Torres has been working for CLUE, Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice, since 2011 and is currently Director of Programming.
His past and current work include the following:
* Successfully organize clergy in Long Beach to help hotel workers win living wages and better working conditions
* Develop programs and communications for UMC Immigration Welcoming Center Congregations
* Coordinated the inter-faith UCARE Coalition for refugee unaccompanied minors and their families from Central America in 2014
* Educate congregations about immigration issues
* Train clergy and lay leaders around sanctuary for immigrants facing deportation
* Recruit and organize clergy and lay leaders in support of Asylum Seekers
* Train clergy and lay leaders to visit immigrants in detention center
* Train clergy and lay leaders to be first responders as part of Rapid Raids Response Network
* Past coordinator of CLUE’s Black/Brown Clergy Committee
*Lead and organized actions for racial justice
