Reduced payment by more than 11 percent!

'We are very, very happy that there is a place like KCCD, a place where people can come and really get help.'

Juanita and Jose Rojas purchased their home in October 2001 and lived in it comfortably for over twelve years, raising both their children inside this house. Unfortunately, in 2013, Jose Rojas suffered a grave injury at work and they fell behind on their mortgage payments. With little other choice, Juanita began to work three different jobs to try to catch up with the mortgage. Unfortunately, Juanita and Jose found themselves faced with the very real possibility of losing their home. It was then which the family turned to KCCD and, through KCCD's assistance, were able to receive their much-needed modification, reducing their payment by more than 11 percent!

Ms. Rojas remarked gratefully, 'Home sweet home. Thank God we have it.'

Through KCCD, he was able to get a successful loan modification allowing him to lower his payments by over $1200 and keep his home".

The Chung family’s hardship began when their son was born with medical complications requiring many surgeries. The family spent their entire savings, including their 401K to pay for all their bills and could no longer pay their mortgage or the property tax. In May 2011, their outlook started to look better when their son's health began to improve and Mrs. Chung was able to return to work. However, because of their delinquent payments that had accrued during their financial hardship, they needed assistance even for their current payments. Through KCCD’s assistance, they received a modification in their payment and interest rate reduction that they could afford.

Reduced the mortgage payment and catching up on the past dues!

'I am so happy that I ended up in KCCD's office. They have a good heart and gave me good work. Thank you.'

Mariam and her husband Saak have been living in their Granada Hills home since 1993. It wasn't until 2013, when her husband lost his job and Mariam went on disability shortly after. Unable to keep making the payments, they have tried to go back to work but health conditions have made it difficult to keep a full-time job. As they are both approaching retirement age, Mariam and Saak are able to make their payments when they retire but needed assistance to catch up on their payments. With over 8 months being behind, Mariam reached out to KCCD to see what options are available to get her back on track. After working with Mariam's lender, Wells Fargo, KCCD was able to get her an affordable modification, reducing her mortgage payment and catching up on her past dues.

Workshop

What your organization is doing for the community is a blessing. Giving small churches the opportunity to get grants, is a rare opportunity, and may God continue to bless.

Dorothy Lee

Thank you for the KCCD nonprofit and leadership workshop! It was the 'Bomb!' It has been the talk of our community!

Dr. Ken Barnes

We at SOFIDA are grateful to Ms. Hyepin Im and KCCD for [KCCD's nonprofit and leadership] workshop. The workshop has enlightened us and rekindled our determination to shine our lights in our community.

Pastor Sam Otoo

KCCD provided a workshop with Brian Bakke that truly painted a beautiful and clear picture of how the Mustard Seed Foundation is partnering with the local church to see the kingdom of God be established and mobilized in cities throughout the U.S. and the world. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about all the steps that need to be in place in order to qualify for a grant, it served to confirm both the integrity and the values of this incredible organization.

Noemi Chavez

The Mustard Seed event was a great opportunity to not only receive help to fund your project but also to collaborate with other ministries, learning how to access the grant and get information and insight on how to move forward with the project, and getting wisdom and knowledge from Brian Bakke's presentation.

Dr. Emily Fields

Thank you so much for providing the information for the Mustard Seed Foundation. Because of people like you and your organization, God's word will continue to go forth.

Felicia Jones

It was a very informative workshop; my interest with the Mustard Seed workshop was in serving, and helping not only churches but also Christian organizations. I not only learned about the great job Mustard Seed does, but also the wonderful job of KCCD in providing resources not only for Christian Churches but also reaching the community.

KCCD is doing a great job in opening new opportunities for people and helping them to change their lives for the  better.

At KCCD I got an opportunity to meet different people and to learn about different cultures.   On the technical side I learnt quite a few accounting tools - like Quickbooks for bookkeeping and Time Trax for payroll. It was a enriching experience to have assisted in preparing for the annual audit of KCCD transactions from Jan 2013 to Dec 2013. Next I worked with Maria Luisa on drafting and improving the accounting procedures in line with the audit recommendations.

KCCD has been a very encouraging and motivating organization. It has helped me in staying positive and having the courage to chase my dreams. It helped meet some important people and make some good friends and I am obliged to be a part of it. Thank you.

Gagan Julka

Although my time in KCCD was short (not even two months!), I gained a lot of valuable work experiences as well as tips that would prove useful in my everyday life. Some of the many work experiences gained include: customer service, promptness, accuracy/exactness, Excel, ConstantContact, multitasking, and coordinating with others. I have also gained priceless experiences where I probably would not have gotten anywhere else, such as getting into contact with the media, banks, and government officials! However, what I thought was most valuable to me were the small lessons taught here and there, such as the organization (thank God), patience (through teaching the Computer Class), the importance of making connections, Constant And Never-ending Improvement (CANI), and having a good start and making a greater exit. Overall, my experience at KCCD is something that I wouldn't have gained from anywhere else. Thank you very much for providing me with the opportunity to be part of this wonderful organization/community!!!

As an incoming high school senior, I joined KCCD as a volunteer over the summer because my family and I saw it as an opportunity to see how connections can be formed between church, community service, and business, all of which have had a huge impact on my life thus far. Being a high school volunteer in a workplace run by adults was frightening initially, and I was honestly afraid of being an intruder in the already tight-knitted family of KCCD. Thankfully, I could not have been more wrong.   I was immediately welcomed into the KCCD family and everyone treated me in a respectful manner. The staff were more than welcome to explain what their individual jobs were and how they impacted the community. Their dedication and passion to their work was truly a blessing to see, and whether they were teaching me how to work certain programs or explaining current situations regarding discrimination, poverty, and delinquency in the community, they did so with joy and a willing heart. Not only did I learn basic skills regarding communication and business (e-mail blasts, research, PowerPoints, spreadsheets and forms, etc.), but I also became much more aware of what life was like beyond the boundaries of my comfort zones of school and home. The world is full of problems and injustice, and through my time here at KCCD, I was awakened to this reality and to the desperation needed in promoting community development and awareness. Though community service had always been an integral part of who I am, never before had I seen how essential and important these acts of servitude were until during my time as a volunteer. Seeing my work (no matter how minute the tasks seemed to be at the moment) develop and assist KCCD in realizing its mission to better the communities and help the individuals that compose such societies was truly a blessing, and has inspired me to continue serving others.   In addition, the ability to work together with a group of individuals who have much more experience than me allowed me to grow in my maturity and helped me realize that people of different genders, races, and ages can all come together in order to fulfill a common agenda. Though I would struggle and mess up at times, my family here would always pick me up and provide continuous support, a quality that is hardly prevalent in this society that is so focused on oneself and one's own success. Here at KCCD, I experienced selflessness and dedication beyond the norm. Perhaps, however, these rare occasions of compassion should be the norm in society, and I hope to illustrate such levels of service and devotion in all that I do in the future.   Though my time at KCCD as a volunteer is over, I will always retain the relationships, lessons, and experiences that I have gained here. As I continue to develop into an adult, I will build upon my time here and continue to make a difference in the community (both locally and globally). Thank you KCCD. May God continue to bless this organization, its staff, its members, its associates, and everyone involved in such an amazing movement! John Choi Albert Einstein Academy (12th grade)

As a volunteer at KCCD, I have learned to be fearless in my identity as an Asian American Christian Woman, and became empowered to be an edifying contribution to our Nation's direction and future. From the beginning, the staff as well as Ms. Im personally inquired and sought to invest into the development of my aspirations. I attained hands-on experiences with major projects and had the privilege to encounter various notable individuals. Though I came to KCCD with just a general passion for human rights, advocacy, and equal opportunity for all, being exposed to such a real-life momentum of change within the Asian American Christian Community led by KCCD has equipped me with an immense amount of clarity and focus as to the direction God is leading me. My time at KCCD has been not only a blessing but a true inspiration.

I have work experience in other general office fields , but working here at KCCD is quite stressful because you wanna make sure everything is done correctly. For instance working at Pathways to Home a man shelter is highly difficult doing intake -data entry . Moving quickly to get to the next person in line , here at KCCD there is more structure , yes there is pressure to get things done , correctly in a timely manner. The environment of KCCD is peaceful and spiritual . Which makes me more eager to get to work.

Working in KCCD has allowed me to expand my knowledge in my academic background in Business Administration in Accounting. I have gained excellent experience by helping my manager with everything related to finance. I have improved my computer skills, especially learning about quickbooks software and other programs related to housing. In housing I have taken the home buyer education class to learn about different programs available for first time home buyers. I  have been part of different events such as the Homeownership Fair, Belasco Theater with CGNT and Days of Dialogue. In those events I have gain experience to be part of a team to help organize the events for important people such as pastors and congress leaders. I would like to thank KCCD for making this a very fun and educational experience. I have made many new friends that are reliable in any situation. I look forward to getting another chance at volunteering at this job.

I enjoyed meeting new coworkers and working together as a team. This job has taught me hold myself in a professional manner through the best and worst of situations.

Jamie Cuevas

I would like to thank the KCCD team for helping me take the first step in the right direction as far as pursing my career. They were all very proffesional, helpful, reliable, and pleasure to be around. I would not mind volunteering if the extra help is ever needed.

Throughout my time at KCCD I have learned to enter data into systems, process documents, answer phones, work with supervisors, managers, and coworkers to ensure that tasks are completed in an efficient and timely manner. I was honored to provide assistance needed at the 19th Homeownership fair, which turned out to be a very successful event. From that event alone, I have gained knowledge on coordinating events and making connections with news and media companies for press conferences. I have become more computer and technology efficient than when I first started this job. I am proud to say that KCCD has helped me take my first step toward not only pursuing my short term goal as a receptionist, but my long term goal to be an information technology specialist for the military.

KCCD has had a pretty big impact on my life. It was my first official job and definitely a stepping stone towards success in my life. I have enough knowledge now to pursue my short term goal as a receptionist. They have not only helped me career wise but also personally. They have shown me how important it is to be professional, be reliable, and keep a positive attitude through the good and stressful times. This job has helped me take the first step toward a very successful and promising career.

This the most spirtual place I have ever worked for and it felt good to be apart of such a great company. I feel blessed to have worked here and to take all I have learn from the staff here and move forward. GOD bless KCCD now and forever.

Working at KCCD has been an enjoyable experience while learning new skills, enhancing existing ones while working with wonderful people.  Working in the mental health department gave me an inside look at the challenges of mental health illness, the stigma associated with it in different cultures and what we can do to help the situation. Becoming familiar with Google Docs and becoming and learning to muti-task on a larger scale and learning from may co-workers have definitely impacted me positively.

Here at KCCD was the 1st organization that I worked at with a spiritual foundation.  Having this strong spirituality makes a difference in equipping us to handle any challenges that may arise throughout the day.  This was also the only job that encouraged me to be better, to gain new skills to be more marketable in my chosen industry. The support that Maria Oakey gives is unmatched, incredible she is.

Shnai Arias

I believe that my experience here has been this good and helpful thanks to all the staff here but mostly to Moses who took his time to explain the process of every task to me and answer all my questions even the ones that he didn't know.

In my time here I have gained many skills. I have learned how to do KYHC counseling sessions. I have been able to become a certified KYHC counselor and counsel dozen of clients. I gain experience with the modification process and on how to create both an physical files and files on  Cmax. In my time I have closed around 20 files if not more. In my time here in KCCD. I have gained many skills and experience. I have learned about Keep Your Home California and the different programs they offer. My knowledge about the Housing program that they offer here is really going to make a difference in my future in real estate.

KCCD has had a huge impact in my life. When I began working here I was in a dark place and believe it or not working here in a way made me find myself again. I have been able to see that I could over come my fears. That I have the ability to learn something completely new to me and be good at it. It has encouraged me to go out there and make a real difference in my community.

Silvia Guillen

Im really gonna miss every last one of u guys. Maria has been so helpful here in my early days of starting and I am so thankful for that. Moses and the rest of the staff were so friendly and accommodating that i felt right at home right away. I applaud Ms. Im for everything she has done and will continue to do as CEO of the KCCD. I know that I will be seeing big things in the near future from you guys. Again, Thanks for this outstanding opportunity

During my time here at KCCD I have gained so much valuable life and business professional skills. This was my first office job so it was very exciting for me to actually be able to interact with co workers on a day to day basis and see how they handle their daily work flow and time management. I have learned how to effectively attract supporters for all causes. How to properly title and mass send email blast as well as create them. Also I have attained the practice office techniques that will benefit me in major corporate environments.

My everyday view of life has dramatically changed since being employed by the KCCD. It has shown me that their can be organizations who are faith-based and who actually do what they can for their community. The skills attained here i know will benefit me for the future when looking to advance my career to its highest level. I have the upmost positive outlook on life and i feel i will continue to do so.

I've learned how to send email blasts, write grant proposals. Google Groups, Google Apps, Transcribing

KCCD has definitely humbled me. I work with a very diverse group of people which is very important and I've learned about different cultures from the staff and my colleagues while here. I've met some awesome people. I was touched in a tremendous way spiritually especially when Ms. Im was generous and helped me out with a new wardrobe.

I think that I'am able to handle what KCCD has to offer and give 110% and more.

I would like to be able to learn more what Kccd is able to offer than inputting client in face-book/yellow pages I know theirs more to learn and if it is possible i"d preferred to do more

It"s different then some other jobs that I've had I'd like to know and learn more what KCCD has to offer.

I will like to thank Maria ,Moses and Ms. Im. They have always answer me with good attitude when I have questions and always showed the many fields of work at KCCD.

I gained the experience of computer classes and learned a lot about computers which did not know before. I learned how to type better than what I use to. I learned how to communicate better and how not to be afraid to learn new things. I learned CiviCRM, how to make professional phone calls to the client, how to train team players, how to create calendars appointments, check emails, and create.

KCCD impact my life because it gave me that opportunity that a lot of places don't offender us and gave us those computer classes that, in other places, they will charge us. Here they offer that to us for no cost. So I'm very careful for the opportunity you gave me to grow more in life and to realize that am able to do stuff that I thought it was harder. I'm actually going back to get my high school diploma. You guys have shown me the value of never giving up and always dreaming big.

We should get a shredder since its pilling a lot of papers with personal information in the kitchen area, or try to fix the one we already have.

I gained a lot of experience in the counseling portion. Also in the systems that are used, which are CMAC for KYHC and Counselor Max, which is the main one for all of our files here but also connected to the Hope Loan Portal for loan modifications. I've realized there's a lot to learn everyday that goes by.

It's definitely helped me professionally and socially.
