Susan Park

Susan Park is a second generation Korean-American. As a child, she saw her parents being denied access in America because they spoke English with accents. The sting of these insults drives her to this day. Her parents had a "Korean only" rule at home. She is multilingual. She has also lived in France and South Korea.




Park is published academically and as a historian of food and culture. She is the founder and executive director of AA4H (Asian Americans for Housing and Environmental Justice); and CAAPI CDC (Coreatown Asian American Pacific Islander Community Development Corporation).




Her nonprofit work focuses on language access for Korean speakers and increased literacy for all. She spends much of her time negotiating and implementing meaningful and equitable Korean language access across a range of critical services in Los Angeles and California.




She's a public speaker and guest lecturer on language access rights that are covered by a range of laws including Federal and California state civil rights laws. As someone with deep roots in Los Angeles, she was able to quickly build a multiethnic, multilingual, and multigenerational coalition of Black Indigenous People of Color Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islanders of 200 plus community based and faith based organizations to advance the rights and demands of People of Color.




She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, their two children, two Shiba Inus, and two cats.
